Jerry McElroy
Welcome to my website! I have had the desire, or maybe it's a curse, of needing to express my ideas through the medium of color, form, design, and composition of images. I have been creating these images for the past 30 years and for the last 10 of those years they have been created with brush and paint instead of camera and film. Painting has given me a new way of seeing the world. I was born in Colorado, and am the fourth generation of McElroys to inhabit this state after my great grandmother arrived in Denver by covered wagon. I graduated from Brooks Institute of Photography in 1977 and have worked as a commercial photographer for the past 30 years. I am a mostly self taught oil painter who's work centers around the desert southwest and the ancient puebloans. Being of Native American ancestry myself, I am drawn to the places and ruins of the Anasazi who flourished in the Four Corners Area over 700 years ago. Published - Collected - Awarded Jerry McElroy's art
and photography has been published and collected by numerous corporations
and private collectors for more than 25 years. His images have been
used to illustrate many book covers, annual reports, magazines, and
advertisements. His art has been accepted, and won awards in major
art shows and includes a "Best of Show" in the Cheyenne
County Annual Spring Art Show and the Denver Art Museum's "The
Real West" show. Owning a work of art by McElroy is not only
a great addition to your room decor, but is a smart investment as
well.
