La Boca Train Painting
"Engine #473 Arrives at La Boca, 1942 "
My painting of the Denver & Rio Grande Railway train crossing the Los Pinos River, arriving at La Boca, Colorado in 1947.
The D&RGRW wound it's way through the many ranching, farming, and mining towns of the southwest. Some of these towns along these tracks that ran through La Boca were Durango, Ignacio, Tiffany, Pagosa Junction, Pagosa Springs, Arboles, and Dulce, New Mexico. Sadly, these tracks were finally decommissioned and removed in 1969 which led to the demise of many of the smaller towns. La Boca exists today as a working ranch and the train tressel serves as a bridge for autos.
